Sports at GMIS

ARCHERY

We have formed a professional ground for the students to practice the art of archery. There are target points set with different ranges on the field where students can practice their shooting skills. Our students have been former district Under 14 Girls and Boys champions. Recently, one of our students, Mahashweta Keyurbhai Pranami, has bagged a Gold medal in the Under 14 Girls team Khel Maha Kumbh and has proceeded to play for the Nationals. Along with her, 3 of our students also participated in National Khel Maha Kumbh Tournament.

HORSE RIDING

We have an in-house stable and many beautiful, strong, and elegant horses on our campus. Our Riding arena is well maintained and suitable for training our students. Carriage rides are given to pre-primary and primary kids during school time. Students interested in pursuing it further are given training from 5 pm to 7 pm. Our students showcase their riding skills during different events and functions on campus.

RIFLE SHOOTING

We have Rifle and Pistol shooting Ranges for the students to practice on campus. Professional facilities and trained coaches provide intermediate, basic, and advanced level training to our students. We are proud that one of our star players, Elavenil Velarivan, has broken the National record and won the women’s 10m air rifle gold championship. She scored equal to the senior world record created by China’s Shi Mengyao. We also have a silver medalist in National Pistol Shooting Champion, Smith Vadiya, and a National Rifle Shooting Champion, Shyam Makadia.

CHESS

Chess is one of the most played and celebrated sports at GMIS and has given rise to many star achievers. Students learn and improve their intellectual skills, attention span and spatial-reasoning ability through various chess matches. Many students from our school have received recognition and bagged medals at National and International competitions in chess. A few of our International players are Siya Sagar, who played in China and is recently in New Zealand for a tournament. The brother duo Vansh Adalaja and Kathan Thakkar have participated in a competition in Malaysia. At the same time, Kartavya Unadkat has received a Silver medal at the school’s National competition.

FOOTBALL

Global Mission has an excellent facility of a football pitch and dedicated training grounds. Our certified sports trainer provides students with professional football practices, including warm-up, individual techniques, teamwork, game preparation and team drills. Students interested in pursuing football or practice as their hobby are given training every evening from 5 pm to 7 pm. We have two enthusiastic football teams – Under 14 Boys and Under 17 Boys. 4 of our boys have participated in the National level School Game tournament. For the last two consecutive years, our teams have won the District level championships and played well at the Khel Maha Kumbh. We also received a bronze medal at the State level Championship.

KARATE

The sports teacher undertakes karate during their Indoor Games period. We understand the importance of this self-defense tool, and thus, we encourage every student to learn this skill. Along with practising karate every day on our campus, a few of our students participated in district and state-level tournaments. The most recent was Ahmedabad District Karate Championship, where our students achieved extraordinary excellence. Pragna Vyas, a boy of 9th standard, has also been a part of an International Tournament.

VOLLEYBALL

We have two volleyball grounds where the students practice during school hours and in the evening from 5 pm to 7 pm. Various volleyball drills, methods and training exercises are taught to students to increase their skill acquisition strength. Our dedicated volleyball team has won many titles and has consistently won the Under 17 Boys and Under 14 Boys Taluka level Championship for the last three years. Additionally, 12 of our star players got selected for the Khel Maha Kumbh State level tournament this year.

ATHLETICS

Our students perform 21 activities during our athletics sessions. All of the exercises can be categorised into running, jumping, and throwing events. Students are trained in different forms and techniques that help them improve concentration, focus, and strengths. Two of our students are state-level Gold medalists at the Khel Maha Kumbh tournament, namely National player Ritesh Yadav and Silver medalist Abhilesh Yadan. We have also won the entire athletic championship at Taluka and District levels. Keyuri Patel and Vishwa Dave are National Players at Athletic events.

BADMINTON

Badminton is a recreational sport for our students, which they play during school. Students learn various physical skills and enhance their cognitive skills during daily matches with their companions. We have a period allocated for such Indoor games where the students practice under the guidance of the sports teachers. They are encouraged to participate in school and district-level tournaments to gain confidence and improve their skills.

TABLE TENNIS

Games that keep our minds active and strong are highly boosted in our school. A single table tennis match can drastically enhance students’ concentration and focusing power. Students daily practice their skills and techniques to play against teams and build their confidence. Our students participate in district and state-level tournaments. But this is majorly practiced as a recreational sport in the school during school times. We also have a table tennis table near the hostel, allowing students to practice their skills in the evenings.
